What are the Academies?

  Junior Academy

 

The Junior Academy is for any player that is a U6 through U7 that is looking for more specific training by professional coaches. This is the next step for the soccer player wanting to play at the highest level at this age.

The curriculum is based around approved exercises for the pre-select player that wants to be more technically efficient. The activities that are used in our sessions, especially the Friday skills sessions, allow players to develop their “foot skills” in an exciting and fun way without thinking about it. It is a learning environment with fun!  Sunday Fun days are an exciting aspect of Junior Academy.  Players will be randomly put into groups and play scrimmage style games.  Depending on the number of players in each age group, players will then rotate to a new team and play.  Based on a typical Sunday session, the players will get to play 3-4 “scrimmage” games.  The emphasis of these “games” is creativity.  We would like the game be the teacher.  The coaches are there to offer encouragement and safety to the players.  We will go over the “rules” of soccer, however, it is not the main focus of our Sunday Sessions.  We want to get maximum touches for all players and we celebrate every part of the game, from the pass to the goal.

 

The length of the season will run similar to the Hilliard Recreational program season. Players will begin with 2 weeks of Friday sessions and then meet twice a week for 7 weeks. There will be a skills night on Friday evenings lasting a little over an hour. The players will meet again on Sunday for Sunday Fun games. They will play in a small-sided format with emphasis on having fun and being creative while continuing to learn the game of soccer.

 

All aspects of the Jr. Academy are based around the development of basic soccer skills through creative, challenging, and FUN training session. All sessions will have a realistic goals set forth by the staff and will be enhanced by a positive environment where each child will feel free to be themselves to develop their self esteem and confidence on and off the field while learning.

Fee is $90.00 per season and includes the t-shirt used for Sunday games.  Please note that once a child is registered for a program there are no refunds given.

 Hilliard FC U8 Academy

 

The Mid Ohio Select Soccer League (MOSSL) adopted a new option for U8 players, in order to more closely follow the recommendations laid out by US Soccer. Clubs are now permitted to form developmental academies. Players are maintained in training groups for practices and then split into teams for playing non-results-oriented competition against other club academies participating in MOSSL. The games are 6v6 format with a center referee.  There are approximately 6-9 games per season (Fall and Spring season).  There are no tryouts; instead all players committed to the goal of development will be accepted. The Hilliard FC U8 Academy is designed as a training ground and to create an environment where individual player development is paramount. When you join the U8 Academy you are committing to both the Fall and Spring season.  There are typically two practices a week. Some of the stronger players may be chosen to participate in tournaments for an extra cost.

Important Dates for Junior Academy

JR. ACADEMY

Friday/Sunday sessions

6:15 - 7:15 p.m.

Hilliard Soccer Complex 6371 Scioto Darby Rd.  Hilliard, OH 43026

Equipment needed:  Shorts, shinguards, soccer socks, soccer cleats, #3 ball, waterbottle.  Uniform top is provided.

FALL 2013 DATES:

Registration:  June 1 to June 30, 2012.

Introductory Emails Sent out: Around week of August 1, 2012. 

Friday Sessions*: August 17, 24, September 7, 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, 28

Sunday Sessions*: September 9, 16, 23, 30  October 7, 14, 21

Jr. Academy Picture Day:  September 15, 2012,   One hour before your session start time. Pictures are taken at the Soccer Complex.  Picture Order Forms are found under our "Forms/Resources" tab.

* Please note there will not be any sessions the weekend of Labor Day,  August 31st to September 2, 2012.

Born between 8/1/06 - 9/30/07 = U6 (Junior Academy)

Born between 8/1/05 - 7/31/06 = U7 (Junior Academy)

Born between 8/1/04 - 7/31/05 = U8 (U8 Academy)

Please note that the system will only pull up the age-appropriate programs for your player so there is no need to figure this out when registering.

Fall 2012/ Spring 2013 Season

Registration for the 2012/13 HFC U8 Academy seasons will begin May 14, 2012 and end June 30, 2012.  Please register online during those dates in your existing account or if you do not have an account please create one by clicking on REGISTER NOW button)

Please plan to attend one of the two parent informational meetings offered on May 29th or May 31st at the Hilliard Soccer Complex (6371 Scioto Darby Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026) from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
