Recreational soccer allows all interested boys and girls to play the game regardless of ability. For many, the HOSA Recreation Program offers the perfect balance between cost and commitment, providing years of enjoyment. This program also serves as an entry point for players who find they have a passion for the game of soccer and eventually transition to the LFC Competitive program. Players register twice per year (typically January & June) . Recreational soccer is a great place to start for any child interested in playing the game. For many, it’s also the first step in what becomes a life-long connection with the sport.
Any person who registers online and meets the age criteria is accepted regardless of where they live. HOSA Recreation teams are randomly formed prior to the fall season and generally remain intact through the spring. Teams are organized into leagues by age group and gender with some adjustments made between the seasons to accommodate players lost and those newly registered participants. New teams may be formed in the spring if necessitated by additional registrations. LFC does not accept requests for specific teams or coaches unless there is a documented need, such as siblings.
HOSA Rec teams are coached by volunteers who are provided free coaching training and access to multiple coaching resources. Each season is comprised of seven games, which are played on weeknights and/or Saturdays. Teams generally practice once per week for 60-90 minutes beginning roughly 3 weeks prior to the first game.
Please note: the 5/6U, 7U, and 12/13U divisions will be coed. Other divisions could be changed to coed depending upon registration numbers.
UNIFORMS
A new HRSL rec jersey set was introduced in Fall 2025. If you do not already have these jerseys, you need to order them during your registration. Cost is $25 for the set and will be added to your registration fee at the time of checkout. Jerseys will be given to coaches for distribution. Players provide their own black shorts, shin guards, and socks.

5/6U and 7U groups will have 4 Saturday games, and 3 weeknight games (days Monday through Friday)
8/9U, 10/11U and 12/13U groups will have 3 Saturday games, 2 weeknight games (Monday through Friday), and a season-ending tournament, which can include Friday night play. (guaranteed 2 games)
Saturday play days: September 12, 19, 26 (and October 10 for 5/6U and 7U)
Rec Tourney for 8-13U Friday, Saturday, Sunday October 9-11 (Rain date October 16-18)
In the event any games are canceled throughout the season, rescheduling options will include weeknights, Sundays, and double-header Saturdays.
